Welcome to ddrillini.com! This webpage is the home of the dance games community at the University of Illinois - Urbana/Champaign.

We have an extensive and prospering community of people interested in dancing and rhythm video games, with the DDR Club boasting a membership of over 400 UIUC students! We hold regular social and tournament events in the Illini Union Rec Room, home of the arcade machines on campus, as well as other places around campus. Currently the Rec Room has a Dance Dance Revolution Extreme machine, a Pump It Up Exceed 2 machine and an In The Groove 2 dedicated cabinet. You don't have to be experienced at all to enjoy what DDR Club has to offer, and there is no committment required at all to be a DDR Club member.

Generally speaking, we'll have at least one major social event and one tournament each semester this year, with other smaller social events sprinkled in whenever we can. Dues-paying members can receive discounted or free membership to these major events (see later in this post for more info on optional dues).

Some activities we'll consider for social events include: collaboration with the gaming center in the Undergrad Library, pizza/movie night (no DDR, just chillin), "portable social beverage" crawl, renting out the machines in the Rec Room, and anything else you might suggest. As these events come up, we'll generally plan and discuss them in their own threads on this message board. and if you have an idea or would like to help out with any social events, just post on this board or you can email me (mccrory at uiuc dot edu).

Members may elect to pay optional dues. These dues are COMPLETELY OPTIONAL AND YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PAY THEM. These dues serve the purpose of giving you, the DDR Club member, heavy discounts for frequent participation in Club events, as well as giving the DDR Club some cash to work with for providing food in advance, prizes for tournaments, etc. There are three levels of dues this year:

Level 1 ("AA" dues): $15 per year. Gets you half off all tournaments and major social events.
Level 2 ("AAA" dues): $25 per year. Gets you FREE admission to all tournaments and major social events.
Level 3 ("QUAD STAR" dues): $35 per year. Same as the AAA dues, but includes a ddrillini t-shirt from our cafepress ddrillini store. You may have seen the DDR Club officers wearing them on Quad Day.

(Note: If a major social event turns out to have no admission cost (such as a potential library collaboration), dues-paying members will have a pizza party or something.)

The Rec Room hosted In The Groove tournament on Saturday, July 22 at 3pm. The event was a major success, with winDEU winning both contests, and Ryzen from Team Z coming in second place in both contests. Check out the forums for tournament recaps.
